刘月会和她的线性世界

这位来自中国的艺术家的作品在我们这个时代有它很特别而且罕见的特征，密密麻麻线条里饱含张力，自由和野性。早期的画作里的幽默和天真，不是故弄玄虚，而是一种自然而然的表达，线条形成的图像，轮廓保持开放，在观者的思绪中，慢慢的你会被她的作品带入另一个超现实主义的童真的世界，似乎想和艺术家本人一起去玩这个思想游戏，跳出水面喝酒唱歌的鱼儿，在城市边缘飞驰而过的滑稽人物，在空中张开嘴巴唱歌的夸张形象，侃侃而谈的爱人，还是等待爱的宇宙灵魂等等。艺术家将摄影的真实元素，比如眼睛，嘴巴，头发与多彩的线条组合，创造了一种独特的构图，没有所谓的条条框框，有的是自由放纵的表达，无声但是有力。我个人看到的是她在画画的世界里的自由，快乐，自信，无谓，享受，那种沉浸式的自娱自乐。

Liu Yuehui and Her Linear World

In this day and age, the features of this Chinese artist’s work are very rarely seen. Her dense lines are full of tension, freedom and wildness. The humor and innocence in her early paintings are not the result of an over-complicated thought process but come as spontaneous expressions. Liu Yuehui’s line-based figures appear as clear shapes, yet their silhouettes remain wispy – her imagery, thus, appears both dream-like and realistic. As a viewer, you will slowly be pulled into a world that is surreal and innocent. In this world, the artist invites you to participate in a game of ideas and imagination – one in which fish jump out of water to drink wine and sing, comical characters rush by the edge of a city, an exaggerated wide-mouthed figure sings in mid-air, a lover speaks with assurance and composure, while the soul of the universe waits for love, among many other things…The artist assembles photo-realistic elements, such as eyes, mouths, hair and colorful lines, to create a unique composition. There is no so-called fixed framework. The works stand alone as free, indulgent expressions - silent but powerful. What the works reveal is the freedom the artist experiences within the world of artmaking. It is a place full of happiness, self-confidence, carefreeness, enjoyment, and that certain kind of immersiveness you find in self-entertainment.

接下来几年，艺术家集中画大尺寸的作品，画里的那种滑稽，游戏思想慢慢进入一种慢思考的状态，画表面安静了一点，但是那股力量多了一份思考和优雅，关于生命，人性，自然。就像她的作品“少年维特的烦恼”，我们每个人何尝不是这样的维特，不管你是谁，来自哪里，生命中总是伴随着各种快乐，还有烦恼，如何去处理这种关系，每个人有自己的成长环境和背景，每个人的处理方式会不同。

In the following years, the artist started concentrating on drawing large-scale works. The comical, playful thoughts gradually entered a state of slow pensiveness. The surface of the paintings started becoming a bit calmer, but the power behind them was more thoughtful and elegant, raising questions about life, humanity, and nature. Just like her work "The Sorrows of Young Werther", we can all find ourselves in the character of Goethe’s Werther, no matter who we are and where we come from. Life is always accompanied by all sorts of happiness and troubles, and moments in which we need to deal with difficult relationships. Everyone has their own background and environment they grew up in, and each person deals with hardships differently.
